TUYERE
INJECTION:
A
technique has been developed at Avonmouth for injecting fine
dust into the bottom of the Imperial Smelting Furnace (ISF).
This was developed initially to feed back to the furnace fine
drosses which previously had to go back to the beginning of
the process - the sinter plant.
The
technique was successful enough to develop a custom built
pneumatic handling, storage and injection facility to deal
with similar fine materials.
Fine
dusty materials have always presented an environmental problem
during handling and often the only solution was to treat the
dust with water to make it acceptable.
The
Tuyere Injection process is designed to handle the dusty materials
directly without further treatment. The dusty waste is ideally
brought to site in road tankers which feed directly into a
storage silo ready for Tuyere Injection.
