New Site Access Road Incorporating Slag Cement

· A 30m section of road will be constructed in the next two weeks (05/09/02)   as part of Britannia Zinc's environmental commitment to find a use for ISF slag.

· The road is to be located next to the existing site entrance road West of the  intersection between Zinc and Boundary Roads.

· The new road will consist of six test bays and two interface sections.

· The test bays will be 5m square and will be alternate slag and ordinary concrete.

· The slag concrete has a proportion of the aggregate replaced by blast furnace slag.

· This is an important environmental project with possible benefits for the company and the local surrounds. It could be very influential in the long-term future of this site as we continue under financial and environmental constraints.
