Collahuasi is a joint venture between Falconbridge, Anglo American and a partnership led by Mitsui. In mid-2005, engineering was completed for the installation of a molybdenum recovery circuit with an annual capacity of 12,000 tonnes, resulting in an increase in earnings potential for the mine.
With increasing grades of molybdenum as the Rosario pit is deepened, Collahuasi's by-product revenues will significantly lower the mine's cash costs. The planned completion of testing and handover of the circuit to the operation is December 2005.
