Kidd Creek, located in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, produces copper, zinc, indium, cadmium, silver and sulphuric acid. The operations are organized into two independent business units, Kidd Mining Division and Kidd Metallurgical Division. Kidd Mining Division is focused on developing and sustaining economic mining plans, while Kidd Metallurgical Division concentrates on further establishing itself as a custom-feed processing facility.
Geology
The Kidd Creek copper-zinc-silver deposit is one of the largest and richest
volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits in the world.

Operations
Kidd Mining Division mines the orebody at Kidd Creek through three separate shafts known as the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 mines. The Mine D expansion, expected to be completed in 2005/2006, will extend mine life until 2013.
Kidd Metallurgical Division facilities are located 27 kilometres southeast of the mine site and consist of a concentrator, a copper smelter and refinery, a zinc plant, a cadmium plant, an indium plant and a sulphuric acid plant. The copper refinery and zinc casting plant are ISO 9001 quality certified.
The mill produces copper and zinc concentrates, and treats all ore from the Kidd Mining Division in two of the four circuits. The copper concentrate produced at the mill, and the copper concentrate shipped from Sudbury mines/mill, Collahuasi, and other copper custom feeds, are fed into the smelter. The smelter has a capacity of 150,000 tonnes of copper blister per year.
Copper blister is refined in the 145,000 tonne-per-year refinery, or is sold to outside refineries. In addition to copper, the refinery produces substantial amounts of silver anode slimes that are further toll refined into precious metals.
The zinc plant has the capacity to produce 150,000 tonnes per year. The Kidd Mining Division provides most of the feed, and zinc custom feeds from other sources account for the balance.
