End Uses
The principal use for copper is for electrical wire and cable applications, a sector that consumes roughly 60% of the world's refined copper. Copper conducts electrical current better than any other metal except silver and has become the benchmark for electrical conductivity. As a result, it can be found in cell phones, satellites and high-speed Internet connections as well as in many industrial, construction, transportation and consumer electronics applications.
Other uses are in brass manufacturing and copper casting, and for potable water in many parts of the world where copper's antibacterial properties and ease of manufacturing make it an excellent choice.
