End Uses
While cobalt is a key mineral in vitamin B12, it is best known for its many and varied industrial uses. Until the 20th century, cobalt was used primarily as a pigment producing intense blue colours. Today cobalt can be found in a variety of products, both consumer and industrial.

Consumer products include batteries for cellular phones and video recording tapes for camcorders. Industrial applications range from catalysts to reduce the sulphur content of gasoline to nickel and cobalt alloys for jet engines and binders in tungsten carbide drill bits.
